Denmon Captures Big 12 Player of the Week Honor
IRVING, TX -- Senior Marcus Denmon has been named Big 12 Player for games of January 30 - February 6. It is the third time Denmon has received the honor after winning twice last year. He is only the second Tiger to win the award this year following Ricardo Ratliffe who earned it after Missouri's upset win against Baylor.
Denmon averaged 17.5 points and 7.0 rebounds to lead Missouri to wins at Texas (67-66) and against No. 8 Kansas (74-71). His big game came against the Jayhawks, as he broke out of a shooting slump to score 29 points. He made 10-of-16 shots from the field, including 6-of-9 from 3-point range.
The senior scored nine consecutive points in a span of 1:12 with less than two minutes remaining to rally the Tigers from down eight points to up one with just under a minute left in the contest. The 29-point effort was the second-highest of his career and his 24th career 20-point outing.
On the week, Denmon shot 46.4 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from beyond the arc, while making 3-of-5 free throws. He also added two assists and two steals.
