Deputies Arrest Man Suspected of Stealing $64,000 Worth of Metal
BOONE COUNTY - Boone County sheriff's deputies arrested a man Friday on suspicion of stealing $64,000 worth of metal from a business and then converting it to cash at a local recycling facility.
Deputies arrested 44-year-old Ronald D. Nole of Meadowlark Lane at Advantage Metal Recycling as he prepared to sell a load of metal. A deputy at the scene investigating yesterday's theft recognized Nole and took him into custody without incident.
Police say Thursday morning employees of Gibbs Company noticed an unfamiliar red Ford Ranger pickup truck leaving the business with a large amount of steel pipes in its bed. The employees followed the vehicle and were able to obtain a license plate number before contacting the Sheriff's Department.
An investigation determined Nole was the vehicle's owner, and he had been bringing large amounts of steel to Advantage Metal Recycling over the last month. An inventory of Gibbs Company determined $64,000 worth of metal was missing.
Nole is being held in the Boone County Jail awaiting bond to be set on a charge of felony stealing. Nole also faces charges of driving under revocation and three outstanding warrants for failure to appear for a court date.
