Deputies arrest one suspect, are pursuing another in drug investigation
COLUMBIA - The Boone County Sheriff's Department arrested one suspect and is pursing another after searching two Columbia homes in a drug distribution investigation.
In a press release Friday, deputies said they searched 804 Demaret Drive on November 3 in connection to the investigation. They arrested 42-year-old Shawn M. Turner after finding about two ounces of methamphetamine, a handgun and a rifle. Turner is also accused of failing to register as a sex offender, officials said.
On Thursday, authorities searched a home belonging to Justin T. Aman at 1514 W. Worley St. also in connection to the investigation. Officials said they found evidence of drug distribution, about six grams of methamphetamine and stolen power tools.
Deputies said they have identified and are pursuing a suspect in connection to the second search warrant. That suspect could be facing enhanced charges because the Worley Street home is located less than 315 feet from West Middle School.
