Double Murderer Convicted Again
AP-MO--Double Murder,0123 Jury recommends life sentences in double murder CAMDENTON, Mo. (AP) -- A man twice convicted in the murder of an elderly Missouri couple now faces life in prison rather than execution. Danny Wolfe had been convicted of the February 1997 murders of Leonard and Lena Walters of the Pulaski County town of Greenview. He was sentenced to death, but the Missouri Supreme Court threw out that verdict in 2003 and ordered a retrial. The high court ruled that Wolfe's attorneys should have pursued evidence raising questions about his guilt. The retrial began in mid-June, and a jury again convicted Wolfe in the deaths. The jury on Wednesday recommended two life sentences for Wolfe. A sentencing date has NOT been set. Wolfe's attorneys are expected to appeal the conviction. (Copyright 2006 by The Associated Press.
