Driver Dies After Losing Control of Truck on Icy Road
JEFFERSON CITY - One driver died Saturday morning after losing control of his truck on an ice-covered road, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
About 6:30 a.m. Billy Robinett of Jefferson City was traveling eastbound on US 54 when he lost control of his 2002 Ford F-250. He went off the right side of the road at Hammann Road, fell down a steep embankment and overturned.
An ambulance took Robinett to Capital Region Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Robinett was 58 years old and was wearing a seatbelt.
According to the Highway Patrol, this is Troop F's fifth fatality of 2014 and first for February.
