Driver Runs Red Light, Causes Crash
JEFFERSON CITY - The Jefferson City Police Department responded to an accident at the intersection of Highway 50 and Madison Street at approximately 11 a.m. Sunday. The police department said in a crash report Justin Stegeman of Sedalia was traveling eastbound on Highway 50 in a black Toyota Yaris and did not stop at a red light. Stegeman's vehicle crashed into Jefferson City resident Stephanie Peters's vehicle. She was making a left turn from Highway 50 to southbound Madison Street with a left turn green arrow.
Peters was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries. The police department said both Peters and Stegeman were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Stegeman and one passenger in his car also suffered minor injuries.
