Drug trafficker who shot at SWAT sentenced to 13 years
JEFFERSON CITY - A man who shot at SWAT officers was sentenced to 13 years in prison on Tuesday for drug-trafficking and illegally discharging a firearm.
Ardaris Webb Cheatham, 34, of Jefferson City pleaded guilty in April for possessing marijuana with the intent to distribute as well as discharging a firearm involving a drug trafficking crime.
After the Jefferson City Police Department SWAT Team entered Cheatham's residence with a search warrant, he fired one round at officers while retreating further into the residence. The bullet did not hit anyone, police said.
Cheatham tried to escape out of the back door but was apprehended by SWAT outside. Officers found approximately 27 pounds of marijuana and a Beretta .40-caliber pistol.
