Drug Used in Executions Returned after Protest in Europe
JEFFERSON CITY - The Missouri Department of Correction will return their 2012 order of propofol after the producer protested the drug's use in two upcoming executions.
The department announced that they will send their 2012 order of propofol, an anesthetic, to Morris & Dickson LLC after the company requested the order to be returned.
The German manufacturer of the propofol, Fresenius Kabi, has protested the drug's use in two upcoming executions in Missouri. Gov. Jay Nixon has stated that the protest won't stop Missouri from carrying out the executions for convicted killer Allen Nicklasson on Oct. 23 or Joseph Franklin on Nov. 20.
