"Dulcimer Guy" Performs at Blind Boone Community Center
COLUMBIA - Another Mike Anderson came to Columbia Tuesday night -- this one to the Blind Boone Community Center as teacher, author and musician. This Mike Anderson showed children his many musical instruments including jaw harp, dulcimer and nose flute. About 20 children showed up at the event sponsored by the Daniel Boone Regional Library.
Anderson led sing-alongs, told stories, and showed the kids how he played his different instruments. He is known for his work with early education and teaching strategies. Anderson has also done sound effects for companies such as Warner Bros, Hanna-Barbera and Disney-Pixar using his unique instruments.
Anderson is from Jacksonville, Illinois and travels across the region sharing his combination of music, storytelling and humor. He has received numerous awards for his original songs and stories. Anderson will be at the St. Louis Storytelling Festival in May.
