East Area Plan on Council Agenda
COLUMBIA - The Columbia City Council will discuss the East Area plan, a request two years in the making, when they meet on Monday.
The plan came in the response to a 2008 development request. The plan would regulate about 20 square miles just east of the city, restricting commerical building to certain areas and preserve nature in other parts.
The request for the plan came from a man who wanted the city to annex the land so he could build up hundreds of acres for businesses and homes.
The city's planning and zoning commission passed the plan to regulate growth on to the council.
Members will discuss it at a work session on Monday.
