Events to Mark 100th Anniversary of Riverboat-Turned-Casino
ST. LOUIS (AP) - A fixture on the St. Louis riverfront is turning 100. The Admiral riverboat is now the permanently-docked home to the President Casino. Pinnacle Entertainment yesterday announced a month-long celebration for the riverboat's centennial. Throughout July, casino visitors can see vintage photos and banners illustrating the Admiral's long history. A promotion for gamblers is also planned. The Admiral was built in 1907. Originally known as the S-S Albatross, it made its first cruise in Dubuque, Iowa, before eventually moving to St. Louis. The Admiral made its last cruise in 1979. It was transformed into the President Casino in 1994.
