Ex-Deputy to be Tried in Fatal Shootings
Former Lincoln County deputy Nic Forler is charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter, and appeared in a preliminary hearing Wednesday. He's scheduled to be arraigned April 3. Prosecutors say Forler opened fire when the truck rolled backwards after the driver pulled it into a driveway. Forler was fired from his job last month. He sat quietly during the hearing and declined to comment afterward. He remains free on bond. A Highway Patrol investigator testified that Forler had been distraught but cooperative when questioned after the shooting.
