Ex-Springfield police officer recovering from gunshot
SPRINGFIELD (AP) - A former Springfield police officer who was shot in the head in January has made remarkable progress in his recovery.
Aaron Pearson has relearned how to walk, run, lift weights and play sports.
At the time of the shooting, doctors thought he might not walk or talk again. Now, Pearson, 31, carries on conversations but struggles with multi-syllable words.
The Springfield News-Leader reports while many are thrilled with Pearson's progress, he sometimes gets frustrated with what he still can't do.
He and his wife, Amanda, say they've learned to enjoy life, especially time with their two young children. And they continue to be grateful for support from the Springfield community, which has made it possible for Amanda to stay home with her husband.
