"Missouri does a lot of things right. The majority of people over there are there because they belong there. But there is always that one that may not be. And that's the one that we can't put to death. We weren't sent here to put people to death that aren't guilty," Deeken said.
Deeken said he hopes the Crime Prevention and Public Safety Committee will vote on the bill next week. The bill will not prevent more people from being sentenced to death row. They just cannot be executed.
