COLUMBIA -- The first day of football practice means the announcement of the Mizzou team captains for the 2012 season. Players selected Elvis Fisher for the second year in a row along with Zaviar Gooden, Will Ebner and T.J. More.

"It almost seems like Elvis is the Godfather of the team," said Ebner.

"Elvis is...the grandpa," Moe said.

"T.J. is like the CEO spokesman of the team." Ebner said, "and Zaviar's like the spiritual greek god that overlooks everyone."

Fisher said, "T.J.'s the poster child. What's Will? I mean Will doesn't even get a category in my book..just keep practicing, you know what I'm saying?"

"We've got a lot of really good leaders on this team it's probably the best leadership I've been around," Moe said, "and the hardest working team so it's really great honor to be voted team captain."

The captains say it's good to have a different kind of leader back on the field too. Quarterback James Franklin has returned after sitting out the entire spring following shoulder surgery.

"It felt great," Franklin said. "I was just being cautious today but going out here I didn't feel any pain at all and I'm really excited about it."

Franklin and the rest of the Tiger team also welcomed a highly anticipated new member onto the squad: Dorial Green-Beckham.

"In 7 on 7 I've seen a lot of good plays obviously it's not as fast and up tempo as it is now but he made a lot of good plays and I'll be expecting him to do that this year," said Franklin.
