Fans Flock to Support Edwards

He can't believe the following he has in mid-Missouri.

"It's amazing, I'm just very fortunate," Edwards said. "To get the support that I get from Columbia, Missouri is just unbelievable. It's an extreme motivator to go out there and race and know this many people are out there behind me, and it's really cool to get to meet them."

After a third-place finish in last season's Nextel Cup chase, Edwards started slowly this year, including a wreck in the Daytona 500. But he feels he still has a chance to have a successful season.

"We have the opportunity to make just a dream season here. You know, we started 43rd in points coming out of Daytona, and that's the bottom of the barrel. We've been coming on pretty strong here lately. The sixth-place at Sonoma last week was like a win for me. I mean, to run that well at a road course was pretty spectacular. So, if we can just continue to have the luck we're having and run well, we'll be all right."

After last week's Sonoma, Edwards is up to 13th place, and ready to face Daytona again.

"I hope we get some redemption at Daytona. I'm really excited about going down there. My best friend and his wife are coming down. We're going to just kind of make a fun weekend out of it, not put a lot of pressure on myself and just perform the best I can. And maybe we'll get a win at Daytona. That would be cool."
