Farmington building inspector accused of theft
FARMINGTON (AP) - An eastern Missouri building inspector was facing theft charges Thursday.
The Daily Journal newspaper in Park Hills reports Farmington building inspector Jaime Nicole Ellis was charged Tuesday with felony stealing. She was free Thursday on $15,000 bond. A message seeking comment from her attorney was not immediately returned.
Authorities said an audit discovered that $5,700 had been stolen from the city through a permit fund account in the building inspector's office.
Ellis was promoted to building inspector in February after previously working as a permit clerk. As clerk, she would allegedly accept payment for construction and building permits and write receipts, but never deposit the money.
