Federal prosecutors say Fulton man tried to entice minor for sex
JEFFERSON CITY — Federal prosecutors announced Friday the indictment of a Fulton man for trying to engage in sexual activity with a minor.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Kansas City, Michael James Collins, 21, contacted a 14-year-old on the Internet and on his phone to lure the minor to participate in sexual activity from July to December of 2017.
Collins has also been charged with transporting a minor under 14 years of age across the state line to participate in sexual activity.
The federal indictment filed Thursday also alleges that Collins committed those felonies when he was required to register as a sex offender.
