Feds Close Jail Sex Case
The U.S. Attorney's Office and FBI released a statement, saying they decided to close the investigation because there's not enough evidence.
Four female inmates filed a lawsuit, claiming jailers asked them for sexual favors in exchange for cigarettes, snacks and better treatment.
"As a result, we're not going to be going forward at a state level unless there's new evidence," explained Bill Tackett, Cole County prosecuting attorney. "And then we'll stand ready to go forward."
The accused jailers won a in civil trial because of a lack of evidence.
