FERGUSON (AP) - The Ferguson City Council has gone into a closed session.

City spokesman Jeff Small wouldn't disclose the purpose of the meeting Monday evening or say whether any immediate action was planned.

It's the first time the council has convened since the Justice Department last Wednesday issued a report criticizing the city's police department and municipal court, saying they discriminate against blacks.

The Justice Department also cleared former Ferguson officer Darren Wilson in the August shooting death of an unarmed, black 18-year-old.

Michael Brown's death prompted demonstrations, which sometimes turned violent.

Small said details would be released publicly only if the council takes action.
