Fifteen Track Athletes Earn All-American Status

NEW ORLEANS -- The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) handed out All-American Honors on Wednesday, with the Lincoln University track and field teams earning 24 total awards, with the men claiming 11 and 13 on the women's side following the Division II Indoor National Championships.

Nyoka Cole took home three All-American certificates, claiming team points in the 200-meter (third), 400-meter (seventh) and 4x400-meter, as Lincoln repeated as champions in the relay.

Michelle Cumberbatch, Yanique Haye, Latoya King and Judith Riley all took home two All-American certificates apiece. Cumberbatch placed fourth in the 400-meter and was part of the 4x400 relay. Haye also helped contribute to the title-winning relay squad, while also placing eighth in the 400. King grabbed eighth in the 60-meter and sixth in the 200-meter. Riley claimed both her certificates in the same events as King, collecting a national championship in the 60 and a second-place time in the 200.

Keniesha Jones earned All-American status for participating in the 4x400, while Shanna Kay Wright rounded out the lady Blue Tigers to earn certificates coming across fourth in the 60-meter.

On the men's side, three earned two certificates, including Steve Banton, Terrel Cotton and Dane Hyatt. Banton placed eighth in the 400-meter and was part of the sixth-place 4x400 relay. Cotton was also part of the 4x400, and he claimed a national championship in the 200-meter. Hyatt grabbed the top time of the Blue Tigers in the 400-meter finishing fourth and he was also the second-leg of the 4x400.

Jermaine Blake was the fourth member of the Blue Tigers in the 4x400 to claim All-American status.

Kimour Bruce defended his title in the 60-meter, while Dwain Bryden came in third in the 60.

Ravel Grey and Gavin Terrelonge claimed their All-American honors also in the 60, with Grey finishing fifth and Terrelonge coming in seventh.

To earn All-America honors, athletes must have scored any portion of a team point at the NCAA.
