Filed Lawsuit Blames Mayor
A civil lawsuit filed against the city of Iberia says the mayor is partially to blame for the death of seven-month old Wayne Anderson, Jr.
A former Iberia police officer filed the suit over unfair labor practices. Former police officer Wayne Shaw charges the Iberia mayor had him fired after arguments over wages, but also arguments about little Wayne Anderson, Jr.
In the lawsuit, Shaw says Mayor Jack Hogue forced him to take the baby away from his grandparents and give him back to his mother, Christina White.
Shaw says when he argued, the mayor "threatened termination" if he didn't follow orders. Shaw gave the baby to the mother, who is now facing murder charges for allegedly setting the baby on fire.
In the lawsuit, Shaw says the mayor ignored advice to keep the baby away from Christina White.
KOMU tried to contact Mayor Hogue Tuesday afternoon, but he refused to comment on the charges.
