Fire crews rescue woman whose legs got stuck under a car
COLUMBIA – Columbia fire crews rescued a woman Monday afternoon whose legs were trapped under a car at a grocery store.
Around 2:30 p.m., fire crews responded to a reported vehicle collision with a pedestrian at Gerbes on Paris Road. Crews found the woman’s legs trapped under the front tire and used rescue air bags to lift the vehicle off her legs.
Law enforcement officials said the woman was waiting in the car for the driver who went into the store when the vehicle started rolling. In an attempt to get to the emergency brake, the woman got out of the car and her leg got caught under the tire.
The woman was conscious when she was transported to University Hospital and her condition was unknown as of Monday afternoon.
