Fire Near Public Works Building
The fire started in a dump truck in the garage behind the building. Forty-two firefighters responded to the call just after 10 p.m. Thursday. The fire chief said there was very intense smoke but they contained the blaze within ten minutes.
The fire caused damage to at least several vehicles parked in the shed and the shed itself. But the fire chief says it's too early to know the full extent of the damage.
"The dump truck where the fire started is heavily heavily damaged in the engine compartment, and the other parts of the truck. There's lots of smoke damage to other equipment in there, supplies and I'm sure tools, a variety of things. At the very least they'll be a massive cleanup," Steve Paulsell explained.
Paulsell also said the automatic alarm system prevented further damage because firefighters could respond immediately. There's no word on what caused the fire.
