Fire on Golf Course Challenges Columbia Firefighters
COLUMBIA - The location of an early Monday morning fire challenged Columbia Fire Department firefighters.
Columbia Fire Department firefighters responded to the Country Club of Missouri's golf course on the 1200 block of Willowcreek Lane around 3:11 a.m. They found a bathroom pavillion on fire near the 14th tee box.
Captain John Metz said because of there were no significant roads near the fire on the course, firefighters had to extend their hoses approximately 400 feet to put out the flames. He said this is double the length they usually extend their hoses to.
Metz said after they made the adjustment, they had the fire under control in a matter of about five minutes.
He said investigators have yet to determine a cause and there were no injuries. He said the damage estimate is $12,000.
