Fired Mo. Police Chief Wants Job Back
CHAFFEE (AP) - A small-town police chief in southeast Missouri wants his job back after being fired earlier this month following the shooting of a dog.
The Southeast Missourian (http://bit.ly/HmGgPG ) reports that Chaffee chief Jim Chambers was fired by the city council. He has filed for reinstatement but council members say he won't be given his job back.
A Chaffee police incident report from Feb. 19 says an officer shot and killed a dog after being ordered to do so by the police chief and mayor. Prosecutors looked into the case and determined it was unlikely they could get a conviction, and no charges were filed.
