First Lady Praises Program that Connects Fathers and Children
The National Center for Fathering, a private non-profit group founded in Kansas City, provides tips and support for fathers and encourages them to be mentors for their children. Mrs. Bush watched as groups of fathers read and played games with their children. She also participated in a round-table discussion with center officials. She told reporters children who grow up with an active relationship with their fathers do better in school and are better prepared for life. Mrs. Bush is traveling around the country visiting community-and faith-based programs aimed at helping at-risk children.
