First ward candidates go "speed dating"
COLUMBIA - First ward residents got the chance Saturday to learn more about first ward candidates before voting on Election Day Tuesday.
A candidate speed dating session gave residents one-on-one time to ask questions.
Saturday's speed dating was the last of several open forums that aimed to making voters better informed.
Saturday's event began with a forum that allowed candidates to all answer the same questions followed by speed dating sessions where voters could ask more personal questions.
Dan Cullimore, President of North Central Columbia Neighborhood Association, said they are excited about this venue and the potential for voters to have even more information.
"Voters are able to ask them individual questions that they may not have had answered throughout the campaign," Cullimore said.
CoMo Council Watch, North Central Columbia Neighborhood Association, and West Ash Neighborhood Association co-sponsored the candidate speed dating.
Four of the nine first ward candidates were not in attendance.
