HALLSVILLE - KOMU 8 Sports' FNF Game of the Week for week four features the Southern Boone Eagles traveling to Hallsville to take on the Indians.

Southern Boone enters the contest riding a perfect 3-0 record, narrowly defeating Eldon in week two. Hallsville sits at 2-1 on the season, falling to Osage 40-20 in the previous week.

The Eagles have started the season strong after what most would consider a successful 2015 season. The team may have only gone 5-4 last year, but was able to notch a quality postseason win against the favored California Pintos.

Southern Boone trails the all-time series against Hallsville 3-5, but will rely on 2015 All-District running back Tanner Smith, and fellow senior, quarterback Spencer Taggart to keep up the Eagles' season scoring average of 32 points.

The Hallsville Indians came into the season with an underlying theme in the program: youth. The Indians only have four seniors on this year's team and nine total returning starters.

Hallsville head coach Ty Harrison thinks the youth could turn into an advantage.

"It's hard because you always want guys with experience on the field, and when you have to play younger guys that becomes their experience rather than playing at the JV level," Harrison said. "So initially it's hard to do, but hopefully that experience they get as young players at the varsity level will pay off down the road."

The Indians will look to lean on a defensive secondary of senior Jadon Kilpack and juniors Graham Moser and Dequentin Smith to counter the attack of the high flying Eagles.

Harrison noted the Southern Boone game has always had a little bit of a different vibe since he took over as head coach.

"We always have excitement when we play Southern Boone," Harrison said. "Two years ago, we had a rain delay and then last year we started the game really late because we didn't have the officials there, so there's always something that's a little bit different."

Full highlights from the Friday Night Fever Game of the Week will air on KOMU 8 News at Ten on Friday.
