Former Boy Scouts Volunteer Sentenced 5 Years for Sex Charge
ST. LOUIS (AP) - A former Boy Scouts volunteer from suburban St. Louis has been sentenced to five years in prison on a federal sex charge.
The sentence for 51-year-old Michael Engler of St. Charles was handed down Wednesday in U.S. District Court. Engler pleaded guilty in January to one felony count of using interstate facilities to transmit information about a minor with intent to engage in sexual activity.
Prosecutors say Engler thought he was communicating with a 14-year-old boy on Craigslist. It was, in fact, an undercover officer working with the FBI's Crimes Against Children Task Force. Engler was arrested in October.
