Former Columbia Councilwoman Gives Back on Memorial Day
COLUMBIA - Mid-Missourians are busy planning festivities for Memorial Day, including barbecues. One former Columbia city councilwoman is barbecuing as well, and giving back to the community at the same time.
Former Columbia councilwoman Almeta Crayton holds an annual barbecue at her home on Oak Drive to commemorate those who have served our country. Crayton also uses the barbecue as an opportunity to help families in need as well.
The event, now in its fourth year, is set to begin at noon on Monday. The event's location is 409 Oak Street in Columbia between Lincoln Drive and Unity Drive.
Crayton also holds a food drive and dinner event for Thanksgiving every year called "Everyone Eats."
