Former Congressman joins KC-based Law Firm to work in DC
KANSAS CITY (AP) - A former Missouri congressman known for his support of military issues has been hired by the Kansas City-based law firm Husch Blackwell.
Former House Armed Services Committee Chairman Ike Skelton starts at the firm on Tuesday. The company says the 79-year-old will work primarily from its office in Washington, D.C., and will give advice on a variety of issues, especially national defense, small business and international trade.
The Lexington Democrat was first elected to the U.S. House in 1976. He was defeated by Republican Vicky Hartzler last year in his bid for an 18th term. Skelton is known as an astute military historian who helped build up Missouri's two military installations. Husch Blackwell has 600 attorneys in offices around the United States and in London.
