Former House Democrat opens state treasurer committee
JEFFERSON CITY (AP) - A former Missouri Democratic state lawmaker has formed a campaign committee for a bid for treasurer in 2016.
Former House member Judy Baker launched the committee this past week. Her committee's treasurer said she hadn't yet officially announced her candidacy.
A call to Baker, of Columbia, wasn't immediately returned Monday.
Baker previously worked as director of the Kansas City regional office of U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. She made unsuccessful bids for lieutenant governor and U.S. Congress.
Baker would join fellow Democrat Pat Contreras and Republican state Sen. Eric Schmitt in a campaign for treasurer.
Contreras is from Kansas City and said he worked for the U.S. Department of State.
Schmitt, of Glendale, was the only declared Republican running for treasurer.
