COLUMBIA - The Columbia City Council agreed to continue plans to widen certain areas of Forum Boulevard.
Residents have complained about the area between Katy Lane and Hinkson Creek. People think the small, two-lane area causes traffic back-up on Forum. A typical section of the current road has 10 foot shoulders, and two 12 foot lanes. The improvement will make a smaller, six foot shoulder, make two smaller 10 foot lanes, but add a 12 foot turning lane in the middle.
The Council said the project will cost $200,000.
The Council's proposal can be found here.
