COLUMBIA - Tolton administrators said around 1,000 people stopped by Father Tolton Regional Catholic High School Sunday to help celebrate its official opening.  Students at the high school were holding tours during the afternoon for anyone who wanted to see the school.  The evening activities consisted of a Bishop blessing the school and a dinner that around 300 people were expected to attend.

The high school started to hold classes in the school November 1 after conducting the first part of the semester from rooms at Columbia College.  Once moving into the high school, the classes were held in the gym, art room, music room and other elective rooms until all of the other classrooms were finished.  All of the classrooms were ready for classes on Thursday.

The new school currently has 65 enrolled students and includes only freshman and sophomores.  Tolton Principal Kristie Wolfe said she expects the school to double next year when the high school includes freshman, sophomores and juniors.
