"The same person who was here answering questions on Friday was there raiding his house on Monday," said mosque member Maaz Maqboll.

FBI agent Rick Thornton said he accepted the invitation about a month before the warrant was issued.

"I think it would have likely created as many problems to cancel at the last minute and then, in turn, serve a search warrant a couple of days later," he said.

"If they could show a shred of evidence as to why they have any suspicion regarding such an established member of the community, both in the Muslim and of the greater Columbia community, then possibly that would be a start," Maqboll responded.

"By the nature of what we do, we're not able to disclose the facts behind investigations," explained Thornton. "As I told the Islamic community Friday night, anything we do is going to be done constitutionally, fairly and legally."

But for Maqboll, that's not enough.

"Just with the FBI, after trying to build bridges, they're burning them down immediately afterwards," he said.

Mosque officials said the FBI raid won't affect their relationship with other law enforcement agencies.
