Fulton Hornets Pull Ahead

It's the combination of two players in the backfield that has sparked the Hornet offense. The Fulton Hornets have run all over their opponents this season.

"We're blessed with speed this year, so we try and get the ball to as many people as we can," commented Fulton's Head Football Coach Pat Kelly.

Speed and power, also known as Jon Sidney and Kaharri Ray, are Fulton's version of thunder and lightning.

"Jon lowers his shoulders, he's just a big guy, if he comes across the middle it'll be hard to tackle him, he gets all his momentum going forward, not too many people can tackle him," said Kaharri Ray a Fulton Senior Wide Receiver.

"He's a good fast guy, he can catch the ball or he can run it, he can throw it too, but he doesn't do much of it, but he can do it, but we can use him just about any way, he helps the team any way," expressed Jon Sidney a Junior Running Back from Fulton.

Maybe a bit of an understatement...Ray lines up at four different positions each game.

"Wide receiver first, then from receiver I got to know the plays and the routes, and where the ball's going, so that put me in a quarterback state of mind, so then when I had to fill in for Jeremy last year, I had to step up and since then I've just been studying everything, all the positions, just put me wherever they feel I need to be," commented Ray.

"Defensively he's a solid corner, and he's a guy that people are going to look to throw away from more times than not, and on the offensive side of the ball you always have to game plan to find out where he is," added Coach Kelly.

But even if you find number 10 on the sidelines, it's number 32 who steps onto the field, and into the endzone.

"Some people try to say I'm slow, but it doesn't bother me because I know I'm not, my team knows I'm not, they know they can count on me to do what I need to do," remarked Sidney.

"He can run, yeah, he'll beat you both ways, he'll take it up the middle, or bounce it outside on you, that's what he did against Versailles, with that outside run," expressed ray.

And on Friday, Ray and Sidney hope to run over and around the rival Bulldogs.

"It's a big game, everybody in the community comes out, you always want to try to do your best against Mexico, because it's Mexico," commented Sidney.

"Brand new field, they're going to try and come in here and beat us but I don't think it's gonna happen," added Ray.

Brand new field, but the same old rivalry, this time with a little thunder and lightning. The Fulton Hornets have won 2 years in a row over the bulldogs. For more on our Friday Night Fever game of the week, check out the FNF Opening Drive. Just go to www.komu.com/fnf.
