FULTON- One local business donated its time to help honor Fulton veterans ahead of Veterans Day. Kingdom Feed and Landscaping gave the Veterans of Foreign Wars, or VFW, Post 2657 a new landscape facelift.

“I was just out there one day and I saw and it was getting run down and stuff and I mentioned to the guys I would donate the labor to go ahead and get it cleaned up,” owner of Kingdom Feed and Landscaping Darrel Wilmsmeyer said.

Wilmsmeyer got the timber from La Crosse Lumber Company in Fulton who donated the materials for the project.

A three-man crew gave their time Tuesday and Wednesday to work on the landscape around the VFW. The crew restored and replaced rotten boards around the flagpole, re-mulched, re-graveled, and trimmed bushes outside.

Wilmsmeyer said the original goal was to do it by the winter, but thought it would be nice to have it done by Veterans day to show how much they care.

“I talked to Lacrosse lumber down here and they donated the materials for it and we did the labor part, just trying to show some of our appreciation for what the veterans do for us and what they mean for us,” Wilmsmeyer said. “Just want to thank all our veterans and our active military guys for all they do for us and the sacrifices they give.”

Post Commander Larry Underwood said they couldn’t be more grateful for the help.
