Fulton woman acts out movie scene and is indicted on murder charges
FULTON - A Fulton woman charged of second-degree murder in March has now been indicted on first-degree murder charges.
Recent court documents state a grand jury indicted Kalesha Peterson on charges of murder in the first degree, assault in the second degree, murder in the second degree, and two counts of armed criminal action.
In March, prosecutors charged Peterson with second-degree murder. Police said she admitted to shooting and killing her boyfriend.
Peterson and her boyfriend, David Dalton, were playing out the scene of a movie that involved a gun. Peterson said the two were drinking and watching a movie when Dalton suggested they play out the scene.
They grabbed a handgun kept in a bedroom to act it out, police said, and Peterson had the gun in her hand when it went off.
Peterson called Callaway County Joint Communications and said she had accidentally shot Dalton. She told police she tried to stop the bleeding.
The examination confirmed Dalton had a single fatal gunshot wound.
