Fundraiser Gives Veterans a Trip to Honor Their Service
COLUMBIA - Hundreds of motorcyclists and families headed to Mid America Harley-Davidson Saturday to enjoy carnival games, music and food to support veterans.
Mid America Harley-Davidson hosted "Wingstock." It was a carnival with music and wings to raise money for Central Missouri Honor Flight. Central Missouri Honor Flight is non-profit organization that raises money to honor veterans for their service. The group helps transport veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials free of charge.
"They're our veterans...we need to honor them and remember what they did for our country," an event organizer, Fred Jenkins, said.
The annual event raised over $30,000 for the cause the past few years combined. It's hoping to raise at least $10,000 today. Volunteers donated food and bands donated their time to play music for the day.
