Game day concerns not necessarily on traffic
COLUMBIA - Traffic and crowd control was business as usual for the University of Missouri football season opener.
The only change from usual procedure involved closing Mick Deaver Drive in Columbia.
MUPD Captain Brian Weimer said he didn't expect changes in traffic or crowds despite the excitement of stadium renovations.
"We're prepared for it," Weimer said. "We have individuals watching the lots,we have officers that'll be around the stadium directing people in and we'll have people inside to make sure it a safe game."
What has been different in recent seasons is the heat. Captain Weimer had a bit of advice on how fans should address the high temperatures.
"With the heat as hot as it is today," he said. "It'd be important that people keep themselves hydrated, drink lots of water,so that we don't have lots of medical emergencies."
