Gas Prices Rise, Then Fall Under Three Dollars
COLUMBIA - Gas price watcher said Monday prices had jumped nearly five cents in Missouri over the past week, but then dropped sharply. Missouri residents saw prices through the weekend that had increased on average 4.6 cents per gallon, four cents more than the average national increase. But by late Monday morning, prices in mid-Missouri were back under three dollars.
last week's increase had been one of many in Missouri. Compared to the same time last year, there had been an increase of 22.3 cents. Within a month's time, there had been an increase of 20.7 cents. Nationally, prices had increased 25.3 cents since last year and 11.8 cents since last month.
Senior Petroleum Analyst of GasBuddy.com, Patrick DeHaan, was hopeful, however, that with easing tension in Iran and the West, oil prices will fall in coming months.
