Gates Corp. to Close Rubber Plant in SE Mo.
CHARLESTON (AP) - The Gates Corp. plans to close its Gates Rubber Co. plant in Charleston, leaving 127 people in the southeast Missouri town out of work.
KFVS-TV says the plant makes hydraulic hoses used in tractors and airplanes. Employees were told of the closure on Thursday, but a timetable has not been released.
Gates Corp. Executive Vice President Tom Reeve says employees will be offered a severance package. The company opened the Charleston plant in 1981.
