JEFFERSON CITY - Gov. Jay Nixon has set a date for the vote on a constitutional amendment ballot.

The ballot vote is set for the general election on Nov. 8, 2016 and if approved would place additional voter-identification requirements on Missourians.

The Missouri Supreme Court in the past has ruled against the photo ID requirements. Republicans though have argued for the use of a photo ID at the polls, saying it can prevent voter fraud. On the other side, democrats say the requirement is unfair to those who lack a driver's license or any other form of identification.

Missourians who are not yet registered to vote can find information on the Missouri's Secretary of State's website.
