The recent flooding of the Missouri River has caused crop loss and damage to levees and ditches. Farmers cannot replant their crops until repairs are made.
To help families recover, Governor Blunt made a request to the U.S. Department of Agriculture in an attempt to make 29 Missouri counties declared disaster areas, including most of mid-Missouri.
If they become disaster areas, the counties will receive federal money that will go to the families affected.
