Governor's Mansion Holds Holiday Traditions
JEFFERSON CITY - Governor Jay Nixon and wife Georganne will host different holiday traditions at the Governor's Mansion Friday and Saturday.
At 10 a.m. Friday, Nixon and his wife will be joined by Lawson Elementary students in Jefferson City to light the Capitol Christmas Tree. The tree is provided by Starr Pines in Boonville. Nixon is also presenting a proclamation that names December "Christmas Tree Month" in Missouri.
At 6 p.m. Friday night, Nixon and Georganne will host more activities on 100 Madison Street. They will light the Governor's Mansion then. After that, the mansion is open to the public for tours from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tours will continue again on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
