ST. LOUIS - Union workers from three major grocery chains in the St. Louis area are voting on a contract today (Wednesday). The contract relates to about 9,500 members of Local 655. The previous contract was awarded after a 24-day grocery strike four years ago, the first time in the union's history it had a food-industry strike. The union says that contract expired May 13th. Today's vote relates to employees at Schnucks, Dierbergs and Shop 'N Save. Workers have until 9 o'clock tonight to vote. The union wouldn't speculate on how the vote might go.
