Hall Resigns as Development Director
JEFFERSON CITY - Without an approval from Missouri's Senate, Nixon's nominee for Director of the Department of Economic Development, John Hall, has resigned from the position.
A Senate Committee refused to send Hall's nomination to the full Senate before a constitutional deadline. He had taken over as DED boss on January 1. Former director David Kerr stepped down after coming under fire for the DED's dealings with Mamtek, the failed sweetener company in Moberly.
Governor Nixon named Chris Pieper as acting director of the department. Pieper is currently deputy counsel to the Governor.
