Hard Landing Damages Private Plane at Columbia Airport
COLUMBIA - The pilot of a small plane escaped injury Wednesday as he landed his plane with gear trouble at the Columbia Regional Airport. Airport Safety Supervisor Mike Parks said the pilot was the only person on the plane.
Parks said the pilot told him that the plane's landing gear and wheels locked up while the man was landing his plane and the plane's wing scraped the runway on landing. The plane came to a stop between the runway and the taxiway. It took crews 45 minutes to remove the plane from the site of the incident. The airport did not close the runway.
