Heat Wave Continues
Each day, Oakland staff welcome 5-10 new people trying to keep cool.
"We have room for people to come in, keep cool have a cool drink," said Shirley Fry. "You know, we've got plenty of room for people who want to come."
The National Weather Service issued an excessive heat warning for most of the state Monday. Temperatures were expected to reach about 100 degrees, but humidity will make it seem even hotter.
Sunday was the hottest day of the year in St. Louis, and Monday was expected to be even hotter. However, forecasters predicted temperatures will drop into the upper-80s and low-90s in much of the state by Wednesday.
